Corey Smallwood is a 25-year veteran of the fitness industry. Over the years he has held every position within a health club – certified personal trainer, general manager, regional training manager, and sales/marketing director – and has become a sought-after resource for other gym owners looking for help in growing their businesses.
For over 10 years of his career, Corey travelled the country working with gyms and YMCAs of all types and sizes—first as a consultant and vice president of operations for the National Fitness Business Alliance, a consulting company founded by Thomas Plummer, and more recently as national sales manager and director of customer support for ActivTrax, a fitness software company providing customized workouts and nutrition programs to gym-goers.
Currently, Corey is the owner and operator of goPerformance & Fitness in Clarksburg, MD. goPerformance is the first training gym in the greater Washington, DC, area to provide a unique atmosphere and personalized services designed for the over 40 year old market. goPerformance offers motivating and time-efficient programming, with an emphasis on incorporating functional strength and performance style of training. It is this personalized and unique fitness atmosphere, along with member involvement in the club’s unique programs and services, that separates goPerformance from the typical health clubs.
